How To Improve Students’ Writing Skills

Image
From essays and short stories to emails and college application essays, writing forms an elemental part of a student’s life. It’s how a student shows what he or she knows and if he or she can effectively apply that knowledge. And yet, writing is a difficult skill to learn and to master. Many students struggle to articulate and organize their thoughts on paper, easily becoming frustrated and discouraged by writing. But fear not — through daily practice and extensive exposure, students can and will write clearly and expressively. Below, we’ve compiled several methods emphasized in VSA Future’s own writing classes that will provide students with a comprehensive approach to becoming good writers. Get a Good Grip on Grammar Grammar sits at the core of effective communication. It enables a student to express his or herself fully, clearly, and subtly. Even if a writer has great ideas, improper grammar can garble his or her writing’s meaning and reduce its credibility, losing the reader’s

Better Future Begins With Education And Goals At Early Age

Image
Learning how to read, write, and communicate well at an early age is essential to building better education experiences for children. Research has shown that learning and loving language early on in life has a positive impact on how children read, write, and even socialize with people. From birth to five years of age, children learn language by participating in back in forth interactions with the important adults in their lives (Hanan Centre, 2016) and having this responsive feedback is an essential ingredient in the learning process of every child. So why is it important for children to learn language at an early age?  The period from ages 2 to 7 are the most important years for a child’s brain development and language development. As the brain begins to develop new cells, multiple connections between cells are formed to serve the function of expressive and receptive language (Child Development Institute). During this period, stimulation is key! Parents are encouraged to dedicate time

VSA Math Camp (Grades 3 – 5)

Image
The VSA Future  summer camp  is underway with a brand new virtual format. For Grades 3 to 5, each student will experience a 45-minute math class, 4 times a week.    In this condensed structure, teachers focus on only the most important concepts so that students can take away valuable skills and insights that will enable them to succeed in their future math endeavors.    For Grade 3, emphasis is placed on understanding the basics on a conceptual level. Classes begin with a speed test—a quick quiz that trains students to become fluent with the fundamental operations. Next, students take on a certain multiplication times table by solving sets of multiplication facts. While some skills need to be deeply conceptualized, others are best mastered through rote repetition learning. This is why our starting segment is designed to help our Grade 3 students feel comfortable working with numbers so that their raw computational capabilities are always on par with their critical thinking skills.

VSA Math Camp (Pre-Algebra & Algebra)

The  VSA Future summer camp  is underway with a brand new virtual format. Students enrolled in the Pre-Algebra and Algebra classes will experience a 45-minute math class, 4 times a week. Each class is designed to get the most out of the condensed format in order to build algebraic understandings that are crucial to future studies in mathematics, science, and more.    Classes begin with a short Speed Quiz that covers basic calculations and problem solving skills. This serves as a streamlined review tool for developing mastery over the fundamental skills that underlie Algebra. Next, our talented teachers take it away, teaching the lesson with an interactive presentation that encourages both participation and critical thinking.     Students are then provided with a selection of  practice problems  designed to emulate and extend the concepts taught during class. Once each of these problems have been reviewed, the students begin their independent practice. During this work time, we make s

Algebra And Pre-Algebra Program

VSA Future is excited to offer our virtual  Algebra and Pre-Algebra  classes for the fall semester. This program is designed to provide a focused learning experience to develop mastery of algebraic concepts.     We use our specialized online resources to our advantage, leveraging the typical drawbacks of online learning to develop a program where students can receive individualized attention to help them excel and succeed. The VSA Advantage    VSA math classes focus on delivering the most important mathematical concepts in an intuitive way. By making use of cutting-edge technological resources, we provide a classroom environment that is interactive and engaging—all from the convenience of your own home. With our small class sizes (often not exceeding 12 students), VSA provides an individualized learning experience.     Unlike a public school setting where lagging students are at the mercy of a fixed curriculum, our classes are tailored to the student. If a concept is difficult, our
